Fundraising For Soldiers In Christ (SIC)

The  Kids  Are  Dying,  and  we  are  Witnessing  It

In our community, we have faced the heartbreaking loss of two young lives to suicide in the last year. I knew one of them personally from SIC, and I recently received the devastating news that a young girl in the Lansing area took her own life. I have also been in the hospital holding the hand of another young high school girl who I consider a friend who overdosed in a desperate attempt to end her pain. 2 out of the 3 were professing Christians

The statistics are staggering: in 2021, firearms were involved in 54% of suicides and 93% of homicides among young people. Suicide and homicide are the second and third leading causes of death for those aged 10 to 24, following accidental deaths from motor vehicle crashes, falls, drownings, and overdoses. Over the past two decades, youth suicide rates have risen by 62%, and 22% of high schoolers report having suicidal thoughts, while 40% struggle with anxiety.

Nobody's Doing Anything to Stop This

It feels as though both society and the church are largely silent in the face of this crisis. The world often offers shallow solutions—partying, substance abuse, and reckless behaviors. Meanwhile, the church tends to stigmatize discussions about mental health, urging prayer without providing real, tangible support.

The Mission At SIC

At SIC, we are committed to building a community centered around love, creating authentic leaders, and sharing the good news that brings hope.
